phase 02
The First Real Words
This is the moment the system was built for: three separate sounds snapping together into a word your child reads on their own. CVC means consonant, vowel, consonant, the shape of simple words like map, sip, and fun. Three nuts sit on the bolt, one per position, and the whole phase lives in the turning.
The reason it works is that only one thing ever changes at a time. You tap each sound, blend slowly across all three, then rotate a single nut and read the new word. Sat becomes sap becomes sad.
Because just one sound shifts while the rest hold still, your child can actually hear the change and track it, and blending starts to feel predictable instead of mysterious. There is an order to the turns that does most of the work, and the Complete Quick Guide lays it out exactly.
Expect this to take time, and expect some days where the sounds will not fuse no matter how slowly you go. That is normal, not a setback. The available guide shows you how to carry more of the blend yourself on the hard days, how to use stretchy starting sounds to your advantage, and how to know when your child has turned the corner from sounding out to simply reading.
